Shoot raw all the time...

I always shoot raw with my 1Ds and Olympus E20. It gives you so many options
to change things once you start playing with the images for real. You can
easily automate the importing with an action if you have a lot of images to
import with the same settings.

I've done jobs with horrendous lighting, where only a lot of playing round
with the CS import settings has got the look I was after. If I'd been using
jpegs, then a lot of the decisions would have been made at the time of
shooting. The resizing in the raw import is also of very high quality and
makes use of the actual way the data is presented by the sensor to get the
best results (this is one reason for the particular ratios you see in the
dialogue box)

There has been a recent update to the raw import plugin which supports more
cameras and has a few bug fixes.
