Although warnings are given and plastered all over camera literature.
modern, or at least current designs of studio flash will be OK, at least
on the Kodak SLRs.

However, It is not really possible to define exactly which units are iffy.
All that will happen in a wost case scenario is that over time the
contacts in the camera will slowly errode ( burn sounds rather dramatic)
resulting in an inconvenient repair job.

Wien trigger units are good and also the Flash Centre does a hot shoe/pc
socket adaptor which lowers the trigger voltage.

You can in most cases also use the pop up flash on the SLRn to trigger
your Studio Flash. To do this you will need to input -3 stops flash
compensation on the top plate so that it does not interfere with you
actual exposure. However sometimes the trigger speed of the studio flash
is a little slow which means it will fire after the shutter has started,
so you may need to lower the shutter speed.
