Keeping things digital, and championing low end photography... Successful digital capture:
Fuji S2, 50mm @f16, 1/1500th, 100ASA, wratten 87A IR filter. The down side is that the 50mm was the only one that the IR filter fitted on, so, the image comes out about 500 pixels across... Bit blurry, and only mildly convinced that Venus is not a dust spot (though on a galactic scale...)... It was nice to say I was there, and that it was worth rising an extra hour early.
