I've read here recently that is not a good thing.
I'm talking from US based experience... not sure if your warranty/service situation is different. A Powerbook is one of the few products where I routinely buy the extended warranty, Applecare. It's well worth the expense. It gives you a three year warranty, unlimited tech support phone time that would normally bill at something like $50/hr. If the Powerbook needs service they deliver a shipping carton to your doorstep and then return to pick up the package. It's sent via overnight express to a service facility where its usually fixed the day it enters the shop and then is sent back by overnight express. If you require Powerbook service out of warranty there's a flat service fee no matter what the problem. The price of that fee is quite a bit more than the cost of the Applecare warranty. Use Applecare once in three years; or make a handful of tech support phone calls and you're ahead of the game.
