Dear Ian and All,

I am very pleased with the 1Ds.

I didn't know the pictures had been regarded as soft; but after a few rejections of submitted images I had dramatically increased sharpness and details of my camera by using two pass of the USM.

The first set at Amount: 20, Radius: 30 (30 to 50), Threshold: 0.

The second pass at A: 150 to 400, R: 0,3 to 0,5 and T:0.

This suppose a sharp picture. The others sharpening techniques, included Fred Miranda plug-in or equivalents sound to me having been set for scanned films and could be useful for out of focus or somewhat blurred pictures.

I saw details and matter dramatically increased at the opposite of usual sharpening techniques that only sharpen edges and seems to been set for avoiding to increase noise...

I would be glad to read from comments about these settings and ways to improve (i.e. fade in luminosity mode, after? after each pass?)

Best regards.

Fernand Ivaldi

I have heard of some not happy with soft images. This
seems to have been well documented in reviews, but that the images were
not unsharp, just that they were soft due to the strong antialiasing
filter.
