Chris,
I am ready to part with my cash for a 1ds also but have decided to hold out
until the mk2 is available.
Like you I have heard many rumours and theory's but Photokina in September
seems to be the date everyone is talking about.
I hope we don't have to wait much longer than this and it's all worth the
wait.
Regards,
Simon Plant

Subject: [PRODIG] More on the 1Ds

I've been told by a dealer (someone I know and who has been reliable in the
past) that the Canon 1Ds has been discontinued, which is why there are few
around (in the UK at least). I've also seen plenty of rumours that a 1Ds mk
II is on its way, with an increased pixel count, but not until November (the
rumour mill says).

As someone about to spend plenty of coins for a 1Ds, I wondered if anyone
else has picked up any solid information on the camera's replacement (or
otherwise), in particular the timing. I'm guessing that Canon hasn't
announced anything - I can't find any statement from Canon.

Sorry to promote rumour mongering - but if anyone has heard anything
reliable, it could be very important to my decisions.
