Will Photoshop do a good enough job at sizing up the jpeg files or will I have to go back to the original raw files and work up from them.
You will get a better job if you re-process the raw files and interpolate them up to A3.
If you have the Camera RAW plug in PS 7 or CS it will process and interpolate up at the same time.
Otherwise process the Raw files in whatever software you have and (ideally into 16 bit) NO SHARPENING, open in photoshop and go image>image size> tick constrain proportions, tick resample image, select bicubic>resize to A3 (29.7cm x 42cm) @ 300 pixels/inch (this is 3508 pixels by 4961 pixels) 49.8 meg in 8 bit or 99.6 meg in 16 bit. They will then need sharpening
Filter>sharpen>unsharp mask. There are more complicated ways, but the above is good for most things, most printing processes cope with/prefer/can use 300 dpi.
Hope it helps.
