Hi All

Has anyone experienced the following while using Photoshop CS in Panther?

Batch rename a folder of files with a generic name, a starting serial of #1
and extension. For example, fileName_01.jpg.

Batch rename 6 files again. Rearrange files, so that the newly named files
are at the top of the browser window, and select the rest of the files for
batch renaming with the intention of continuing the rising serial number.

In the Batch Rename dialog, change the starting serial to #7. Click OK and
get a warning dialog that says: Could not move the file 'fileName_12.jpg'
because a file of the same name already exists.

A file of that name does exist in the folder but I'm trying to "change" its
name and not "move" it: the dialog says "move" the file, whereas I'm trying
to "rename" files in the same folder. Also, if I continue with the batch,
because other file names already exist among the selected files, the batch
effectively stops.

I can understand Photoshop not being able to move/rename a file if that
filename already exists in a folder and the file is NOT selected, but if the
file is earmarked for change, then surely it should not be treated as a
permanent resident. No?

Not looking for workarounds. Just want to know if I have a problem on my
machine or if this is a known bug or, for reasons best know to the
programmers, selected files earmarked for renaming are treated as permanent
residents and not taken out of the equation, even when selected.
