It sounds like you are actually renaming another file to the
fileName_12.jpg.
If you have just one file and rename it the same name that it has already,
it will do this. But if you start with #7 and it actually gets renamed as #8
or #6 then it will ask if you want to over-write. If you were to change the
naming convention to fileNameA_01.jpg then all would work, Then if you need
to you can change them back. 
Or am I misunderstanding something?
