Prodigers to the rescue again please: I photographed some bamboo door curtains in the studio (you know the ones, individual strands of 5-10mm diameter bamboo lengths strung on wire, hand painted with flowers or the Mona Lisa or the peace symbol).
The client has offset printed A4 sheets with each curtain 5cm high. Too small to resolve the individual strands. The result is a broken up image, especially at the bottom where the strands are thinnest. And a dirtying of the white strands, as the printed page can't resolve small details, such as the difference between the strands and the background. Options: Blur the images slightly? Deep etch between strands? (must be crazy) Change printing screen resolution? Or any left field suggestions, like shooting while standing on one leg, balancing a polarizing filter on my nose?
