Dear Ian

Although I haven't needed to buy anything from them for some time, (my Mac is so reliable), there is a company called VIS at http://www.applemacparts.com/ They are very helpful.

When I had to replace a failed floppy drive in my old 9600 I was amazed that the serial number was only nine away from the part I was replacing.

interesting for those who are computer hardware adept that fixing macs
yourself is not possible and a new one is cheaper than a repair.
