Dera Shangara I won't go into the discussion of jpeg being inferior or equal
to RAW, since I can relate to you argument if a properly lit set and
correctly adjusted camera( exposuer, WHite Balance and the like) are all
rightfully set.

But I will go into something that has happened to me all too often is that
some sort of unexpected corruption occurs while storing jpegs and then my
"original slides" this is, the original jpegs, can't be opened because
Photoshop "does not have a resource XXXX -jpg marker- to open such files,
from CD's or hard drives. I can even copy them from one place to another,
but still will not open. Not even supermagical Graphic Converter has been
able to solve this, although it has worked miraculously with corrupted
tiff's.

If you have not encoutered that dreaded warning , consider yourself lucky.

Fortunately my loss has occurred with family photos and vacation photos,
which I used to shoot in jpeg. 3 or 4 events like this, and not being able
to open ever again the dammned files were enough for me to forget about
storing jpegs as originals. Hence the RAW workflow for everything.

Best
