>exposure is so critical with digital, especially when you have a white wedding dress floating around
Liisa,
Take a look at the Kodak DCS SLR - brilliant camera, with it's ability to correct 2 stops overexposure and legendary workflow software (Photodesk). Camera actually has a 12 stop latitude of which 8 comprise the image.
Though I am a portrait photographer only, I know of wedding photographers who swear by the software for its ability to correct exposure/colour correct several hundred images near instantaeneously.
Camera image quality from it's full-frame chip, is mind-blowing!
Digital does not suit everybody, you already have a system that works. Why do YOU think you might want to go digital?
Because there is so much more that you can do for your clients and so remain competitve and also charge more :-)!!
I moved to digital 2 years ago and, yes, there is a near vertical learning 'curve'. I made the move to contain costs and that I have certainly done, knocking 75% off my film and D&P bill - all of which goes to my bottom line.
However, what I also found, was that my sales went up as cleints appreciated the level of control we could exercise over each image and so create a truly bespoke product.
Overall Result - For the first time, I am REALLY Profitable.
