IMHO one of the annoying differences between Mac OS9 & OSX is the fact that when using OS9 if one was batch processing files into a folder, if that folder was open on the desk top it would constantly update as each file was saved into the folder. In OSX this does not happen - the only way one can see how many files have been processed is by shutting and re-opening the folder.

I see that this also happens with "Item info" on mounted drives when selected via < View - View Options >. I can empty a drive but it only updates that info when I unmount the drive and then re-mount it.

Does anyone please know of a work around / keystroke / utility which will restore this very simple OS9 feature?

[ Sorry List-mom if this is really an Apple geek question but my excuse is that I have just been trying to re-allocate space to about 350 GB of digital info and being totally unable to monitor available space as I was working. ]

Many thanks
