Dear Mike

I am pleased to say that my various methods have now given me a 100% dust free sensor on my latest 500 frames. However I do use the CO2 tetenal propellent too, but only if I see dust.

I am now fairly convinced that there are several types of foreign matter. Firstly there were the mysterious small transparent 'red' spots which only showed as soft black spots on blue skies. They did not show on any other colour and disappeared when using a pola filter. I think they were there before the camera was even used. They needed fairly hard wiping with sensor swabs to remove and appeared to be stuck to the sensor. Next there are similar size bits of matter which could be inorganic like fine sand or powder. Then there is true dust which is big and shaped like hairy dust.

The propelent is perfect for the latter.

Yours

Bob

And did you note Bob Croxford's idea of keeping double-sided tape on the inside of your lens and body caps. I started doing that about a month ago and am amazed by how much dirt that attracts with the kit just sitting in my bag.

Lovely lo-tech solution tom hi-tech problem! Great one Bob!
