I've seen comments on list about the larger capacity LaCie drives actually
being two drives in one box - making it near impossible to use them in a
RAID array.

I have two 250Gb d2 drives configured in RAID under OSX which works well for
backing up my images and the time has come (all too soon!) to buy another
pair.

My question is does anybody know at what capacity the LaCie drives change
from being one drive in the case to being two?

Incidentally I swopped from storing on CDR about 6 months ago when the cost
of the hard drives dropped enough - even used with double redundancy in a
RAID the typical cost of hard drives (LaCie) is around 1GBP per Gb stored
(or 50p if you dont use two drives!). By the time I'd paid an assistant to
write CDR's AND bought the CDR's AND some archival storage sleeves AND boxes
AND allocated space for my 2000+ collection of CD's the hard disc route
feels like a great weight has been lifted......

Thanks in advance.

Yours aye,

Alan
