Hi,

I have been using a 2100 with Epson inks and Epson Archival Matte paper for
a year now. I am very impressed. Sometimes with lots of heavy blacks I
find I have to re adjust the print slightly and reprint but not often. I
get very good quality images using this kit - the best consistent results I
have ever had. No Print lab every gave me this consistent reliable high
quality results. I have heard that the Lyson continuous ink conversion is
very good, and indeed the samples I have seen did look good. But as the
conversion adds another ?500 + not including ink to the price you would
have to be printing a lot more than I do to make it worth while. I like the
Epson combination very much.

        I would recommend it highly

I choose not to use other print media and consequently don't have the
problems you describe with them. However, on the occasions I have used
other than Epson or Jessops papers I have noticed huge problems including
smearing, so this printer is not infallible. It certainly did not like any
Kodak media, which used to be my favourite.

Hope that helps in your choice.

Subject: [PRODIG] which printer

List,
I need to buy a printer for making B+W and colour art prints to sell to the
public.
Have been looking at Epson 1290 and 2100 also Cannon i9100 or if justifiable
the i9950.

First choice was the 1290 and use with Lyson ink but I was pointed towards
the 2100 and Epson(chromawhateveritis) inks by salesbod.
After a search on the prodig archive I am lead to believe that the 2100
performs poorly on Gloss/Satin paper with bronzing of the blacks and also
does not print rich blacks on matte paper - Worrying. If possible I don't
want any bronzing whatsoever. Is this achievable with any of these printers.
Interested if anyone has used both these printers and which archival ink and
paper combinations produce the best results.

Somebody said that the i9100 knocked spots of the 2100. Any opinions?

Haven't heard any reports on the i9950 but the sales pitch looks good. Is it
worth the money.

Cheers
Simon Ryder
