Also try these magic setting, they work fine with the 1Ds but are pure crap for scanned pictures.
Just after Raw processing, set Local Contrast Enhancement (USM filter): A: 20, R: 20/30/40/50, T: 0, this remove the AA filter artefacts and brings up low contrast details.
After upsizing try A: 150/250 R: 0,5 or A: 300/500 R: 0,3 then fade in luminosity mode.
