On reading your mail again. you must surely mean 1Gb not 1Mb - in which case that is about the right speed through pmcia

Bit of an amateur question here as it's not my area of expertise, but I've recently started shooting for fun a lot on a dSLR, downloading to a Powerbook G4 (not tethered).
I do this via the PCMIA slot with a Microdrive (or 512mB cards) but it takes about 6-8 minutes to transfer 1mB. I'd assumed that being drive to drive this would take a minute or so at most.
