List: My slide scanner scans a 4000 dpi and yields an image approximately 4 X 6 inches and 912 ppi. (I use VueScan and that is the default size.) If I choose to print a 12 wide image on my Epson 2200 from PSCS, I select Image size and with Resample Image off I get a 12 X 18 image with 301 ppi. I then go to the print with preview route I may choose 1440 or 2880 dpi. I find this confusing. What is the optimum procedure? When should I resample?
An alternative method I can just go the Print with Preview route and set the 12 X 18 dimension there or just check Scale to Fit Media. If I go this route do I get the same result as above? What algorithm does Print with Preview use to resize? Which method is the best?
