Alfred....You are confusing image resolution - 301ppi- with printer resolution - 1440dpi. Your image is correct at 12 x 18 at 301ppi...there is no need to resample, you just need to select either 1440 or 2880 as the printer resolution and the driver will take care of it for you. I would suggest 1440 is quite enough, it takes forever at 2880 with little if any discernable improvement in image quality.
