I just tried the LACIE D2 8X DUAL LAYER DVD-/+ for OSX. It was beautifully quiet with no on/off button, but wouldn't burn from the finder and iview etc, only from Toast 6 which it came bundled with. It turned out to be faulty so it's gone back, so I too am looking for a DVD burner.
