Hi

I'd echo people's comments on QuadtoneRIP - you can even run it on windows now
I believe.

I tried QTR with a 9600 and found that for best results you need to be able to
enter your own linearisation data, which needs a suitable measuring device.
You will probably find other people have developed the curves for papers you
want. A good place to start is the BW printing yahoo group.

There was also mention of just using the channel mixer for conversion -- do
try some other methods, I've found conversion to Lab and removal of the ab
channels often gives very good results. I've collected links and info on many
aspects of digital B/W together at <http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/
digital_black_white.html> It includes all the conversion info and links to
printing resources.

bye for now

Keith Cooper
