So, if I perform the same processing commands in Camera
Raw Plug in as I did with the Nikon Program and look at the two results side
by side, the Nikon Processed one is so much better.
It is possible to get good results from CS camera raw with nef files but it takes a bit of setting up first.
Also if a lot of your work is going to 'print' it might be best to use adobe rgb(1998) colour space rather than srgb.
Photograph a colour chart + a bit of skin(!) then open in the Nikon software and get it to how you like it.
Keep this image on screen and open in Camera raw and tweak till you get the same (or better), remember to click on the advanced button to give you the full range of tools. Once you have got a result you are happy with, save the settings in camera raw. You can save several settings such as tungsten, flash, daylight etc ... this will hopefully make using camera raw a lot quicker in the future.
