Hi Richard, I'm not sure I can answer your specific question... But one point to note perhaps is that laptops seem not to be designed for use 'on the lap' any more! I was surprised recently when a family member purchased one and there are so many fan outlets on the base that it has to be used on a solid base to allow airflow. A friend had a hard-disk crash on an old PC recently - it behaved erratically but I hoped to be able to copy its contents off to another machine. It ran scaldingly-hot (presumably, some sort of failure of the bearings???). Any help?
