Cheers Rob

I got some free time this afternoon to look at the differences between the
results of Camera Raw and the results from Nikon Capture Editor up close on
a 23" display.

If I turn off all of CRs sharpening and make sure that I dial in a large
amount of Color Noise Reduction then I can get an image that matches the
output of NCE for smoothness.

But I'm still having difficulty matching the NCE's ability to resolve areas
of colour that CR seems to be unable to cope with. I gave the Calibrate
settings a quick tweak, but didn't have much success - I'll need to shoot a
colour target at some point and compare the numbers.

I'm well chuffed with one of the CR functions though. One of my test images
was a shot of the military cemetery at Etaples. It has two marble towers
that are about 50m apart which did a good job at highlighting chromatic
aberration :-(

The Camera Raw plug-in was certainly much more useful than the Nikon
software in dealing with that. So maybe I'll process all my wide angle stuff
through CR and do the rest with NCE.

Regards
