I’m shooting a job tonight where I'm photographing people in a variety ofHi Joanna. I'm not a 1DS user but I know people who are and along with my D100s between us we've never experienced moire principally because the antialiasing filters on such cameras are designed to ameliorate it if not stop it altogether. I shoot stuff all the time that amounts to the equivalent of what you're going to shoot and I've never seen it. I get it on dancers tutus with a digital back because there is no filter and a tutu has got to be the worst possible scenario for creating moire. Again I've never seen it on the D100 and I wouldn't expect it on the 1DS.
attire ie most will be in suits (with possibilities of pinstripes etc) and
some may be in colourful African materials. I'm concerned about moire
patterns as on this occasion it would matter a lot. Is there a solution to
this on 1Ds's, or is it a case of blowing the dust off my film cameras?
However if you do get it you can get a moire remover from fredmiranda.com for very little money and also one from camerabits.com for more money...part of a bigger package. Both are downloadable. They are very simple to use. Just select the area and invoke the filter. It gets rid of the colour moire artefacts but will mostly leave the pattern behind which is much more preferable to the colour artefacts. The link below is another way to remove it. I doubt if you'll need any of this. Leave your film (I think that's how it's spelt) at home.
