I have a G4 tower with a 30G hard drive and an extra 120G as the second
drive.

I have tried to run my system from the 120G but it seems to be quicker if I
operate from the 30G, (both with lots of space on the drives).

Dear Connor

I am not sure I have got this straight! Your OS is on your 30G drive which you say is quicker than the slave which is a 120G, am I right so far?

Is there any reason why I could not now replace the 30G with a 120G and have a fastere main hard drive? (I have a lacie 200G to back up on for reinstall etc)

Now you have lost me with your reasoning when you say you want to put the 120G in place of the 30G for speed...you have already told us that you find the 30G is the faster of the two!

I just want to speed up the machine a little as well as getting more space on my 'master drive'

Why not just clear out some stuff from the 30G master and dump it onto the 120G slave. If you are after increased speed and do not have your Photoshop scratch disk on the second (slave drive) then that's where you should put it.

Sorry if I have not correctly understood you<G>

Cheers
