Yes, but with a 20K investment, how long before it pays for itself? Most people can't really afford to come up with 20K, even if they do come out ahead in the long run. That, I think, is the major road block for alternative power. Mind you, I'm 100% in favor of it, and if I had the bucks I would do it myself, even if I never broke even (for the environment). But I just don't have the BIGBUX needed to switchover. I do plan to start by getting a solar panel here, a battery there, etc. And I've already started by reducing my electric usage.

Upon re-reading the above, I have no idea what point, if any, I was trying to make. I'll leave that as an exercise to the student....
