! ! Clinton was not running a war on terrorism, But he did run a war in Kosovo. I don't recall any movies hypothesizing what it would mean if he got assassinated in light of the conflict in Kosovo.
For that matter, I don't recall anybody clamoring about all the innocent civilians killed in his air strikes pounding Christian Serbia. Oh, that's right, we were combatting the "next Hitler," good ol Slobodan, whose bona fides pale in comparison to Hussein, for whom Clinton also articulated a policy of regime change based on his WMDs, but that's neither here nor there at this point. !Clinton is not ! the president and killing Kofi Anan would not really have a ! significant impact. You can say that again. ! ! The film explores what would happen next in the scenario that ! Bush were to be assasinated, no one is suggesting that ! someone should try to kill him, they are exploring the what ! if scenarios. Freud might say that the what if scenarios being explored are unconcscious dream wishes, exposing the underlying neurosis of the what-iffer. ! ! For people to get upset about this film shows how thick they ! really are. I'm not upset about this film per se, and yes I did read all the pious mumbo-jumbo about what a thought-provoker it was supposed to be. But in light of now several different attempts at imagining Bush's assassination---novels, cartoons and now a movie---I am suggesting there is something unhealthy going on, and it can't all be blamed on Bush. That's all. For lessons about how to be "thick" I can learn a few tricks from you and others as well.
