Unfortunately it is all too often the pointy headed boss who decides what languages, developer tools and platforms will be used! The article seems to suggest that Java is clearly number 1 in places advertising hiring opportunities on Dice.com (with the open source scripting languages of only limited significance by this measure).
A higher-level, well-known language is always more productive, but I would ask , is FoxPro always the best possible tool for every solution? And is it not worth learning other languages? And further, how long does it take to be productive in some of these programming languages?
