If you don't know .NET and are going to make an investment in learning a
new tool, then you might want to look at building a Python based
solution.

The Python standard library includes a web server module that you could
customize to provide your data. This way you don't have to install IIS
and .NET. This would be a good solution for your low volume use case.
There are also a variety of higher performance Python based web servers
if you wanted to implement a more scalable solution.

Just a thought.
