Not for long, there is a real crack down on people claiming disability benefit
even though they are fit for work. At last people are realising that state
benefits are there as a safety net not as a way of life that every real tax
payer is funding.

Personally I have no problem giving benefits to people who deserve them through
unforeseen redundancy, incapacity etc. but get annoyed when people who have
never done a day's work in their lives moan because they need a larger house or
increased income just to fuel their increased smoking and drinking habits which
as a tax payer I can't afford.

Funny how lots of so called deprived and destitute people still have new flat
screen TV's, new cars and multiple foreign holidays every year. They don't know
the meaning of the word poor, but continue to think that the world owes them a
living.

In over 40 years I have never claimed a penny in benefits and should the worst
come to the worst regarding job employment I would go out with a sponge and
bucket and wash cars rather than make a claim. The "caring state" we have is
fine for people truly in need but is a joke when it comes to spending loads of
hard earned tax money on people who either don't deserve it or are trying to
get a free ride at everyone else's expense. If one thousandth of the money that
has been spent bailing out the bankers (oh how they do need an extra Ferrari or
two) had been invested back into what little manufacturing industry we have
left then maybe this recession wouldn't be going into a double dip as it looks
like it will do. The prevailing word through out all this world crisis is
definitely "greed". The banks thought they could make loads of easy money by
diversifying and even investing in peoples potential misery (sub-prime
mortgages etc) but now they want the normal working man to bail them out ...
which we have done .... maybe we should just have let them sink.

I have always been a believer in the capitalist model but this current
situation stinks of corruption and manipulation by a select few people in large
trans world corporate business. Governments don't run countries any more, big
business does and the sooner we get rid of the huge amount of power that the
multi nationals wield the better.

Hi Everybody,

Families have £10 less a week to spend than a year ago in a devastating squeeze
on household finances, according to a report by the Bank of England.

The central bank’s Quarterly Bulletin said ‘available’ income – what is left
after paying tax, housing costs, loan payments and utility bills – has fallen
by £46 a month in the last year.
Feeling the squeeze: Families are £46 a month worse off than the last year

Feeling the squeeze: Families are £46 a month worse off than the last year

That means the spending power of the average family has fallen by £552 in the
last 12 months – leaving Britain on the brink of a double-dip recession.
