I think many are like sheep and believe the rubbish apple say. I have an
iPad, I got it to try programming for it but Apple make that hard to do so
my take on iPad is next to useless. An expensive toy I keep beside the bed
to check emails. I use my smaller Android phone because to me, swype is
easier to use than the larger keyboard on the iPad. But I see your point
about larger screens for impaired people. I think if I had know then what I
know now, I may have gone for a 7" screen. At least that fits in a pocket.
The iPad, or 10" android, needs more so may as well carry a laptop. For us
people that program anyway. But my biggest gripe about Ipad is no GPS. I
think that's a poor effort for so much money.

Maybe that's just the group of people I know. Maybe that's because the
iPhone was available earlier with sufficient applications. Maybe it's
because the device is the same everywhere which means you can take someone
else's iPhone and show them how to do certain things.

A bigger screen is definitely useful if you are not blind but visually
impaired. Our friends use color schemes and zoom level that look horrible
to me, but by holding the phone very close to their face they can actually
see something.
