Cartels are bad for consumers.

We recently went to a local store that advertises wholesale prices,   They
listed milk at $1.99 / gallon.  When we got there it was $3.79 a gallon.   They
explained that the state has a minimum at which you can sell milk to the public
and that they were in violation of the law and were threatened.     So
apparently they were able to make money at $1.99, but were required to charge
$3.79

The clue is in the word lambs are small young sheep... don't get many of them
for the outlay.. mutton etc is more plentiful as you get more sheep for your
buck...

On the same basis chicken should be more expensive and it was until the
Taiwanese got into the market and started shipping worldwide which broke the
national cartels which had previously controlled the markets..

Running a food packaging company I could bore the hind legs off you regarding
supermarkets practices and how they screw everyone but themselves... but I
won't...

Is lamb expensive in USA? Is here in Europe. Don't know why, there are tons of
sheep Al

This is making me hungry. I have some pork, chicken and beef - will have to do
without the lamb.
