An interesting article in sdtimes but the author plays down the fact that in a real-world environment HTML5 is still partly vapourware, and everyone promoting this ignores the fact that javascript is malformed and crippled. The goal of replacing the desktop with a browser has always been blocked by the need to let javascript out of the sandbox if it's to be really useful; even if javascript /were/ fit for purpose the browser environment is sandboxed for inescapable security reasons. Having said that it looks from the article as if ms are walking on the edge of the cliff: /Visual Studio 11 beta to build an HTML5 application .... JavaScript is the language that accesses the WinRT runtime/
