I often find that simple interfaces are okay for simple tasks that the
designer wants you to be able to do. But if you want to do complex tasks the
simple interface fails. ONe of the things I really dont like about Apple is
that while it is simple and easy to use, it is only so as long as you want
to do what they are willing to let you do.

I think one of the biggest frauds perpetrated by the computer industry is
the notion that complexity can really be made simple.

If you have to do a complex task, then you need a complex interface to
control it. If you can replace the complex interface with something that is
significantly simpler, then it can only be for one of two reasons;

A. The task really wasn't that complex, or; B. You've taken away more
control from the user than you should have, and you'll eventually have to
restore it using a bunch of kludges that will be uglier than the original
complex interface.
