But that's not a "collect names and addresses" type application. Those
pretty much all look like Cardfile.

I think one of the biggest frauds perpetrated by the computer industry
is the notion that complexity can really be made simple.

If you have to do a complex task, then you need a complex interface to
control it. If you can replace the complex interface with something that
is significantly simpler, then it can only be for one of two reasons;

A. The task really wasn't that complex, or;
B. You've taken away more control from the user than you should have,
and you'll eventually have to restore it using a bunch of kludges that
will be uglier than the original complex interface.


Reminds me of Access (and VFP to some degree) where they made it seem like cheap Janey Secretary could replace your expensive Johnny Programmer.

Now they all think they can do it in Excel--including basic word processing. *sighs*
