In a democracy, you should be able to read whatever you want, whether it
agrees with government rhetoric or not. Where is the harm in reading
both sides of an issue or debate? What is there to hide? The analogy
with children and pornography is not relevant. Children are not allowed
to view pornography in any form, including the internet. This is
legislated in law. There is no law, however, stating that an adult
cannot read about a particular issue or debate. Denying an adult the
ability to read about issues that are freely available is tantamount to
a dictatorship. Preventing someone from doing something which is not
legislated against in law is a denial of freedom and is therefore
illegal and undemocratic.

You'd be the first to criticise a Democratic leader for doing this, and
you know it.

Yes, there is filter software that filters out many things. I don't
know if this is decided on at a top level, or whether it is done at a
local level.

I makes sense that the US Military would not want subversive and
traitorous sites to be available to any soldier. It is a security risk,
plain and simple.

Just as you don't allow children to view pornography, you don't allow
soldiers to view a modern day Tokyo Roses.
