In general, tablets have very high resolution (makes the teeny little pictures look sharp!) and very few choices. Paul Thurrott's 'Windows Super Site' has several discussions of the problem using a Surface Pro (Windows 8) with an external monitor. I think you're wasting your time looking for a way to run your app as is; you're going to have to deal with the minimal screen space.

You might just buy a couple of apps from the MS store (I mean data based applications, like something recording auto expense) and see how the deal with it before you start making changes.
