Dan - my Boss likes your idea - of grabbing some other Data type app - to compare it with. But, unlike the world of Androids - you think there are any Free or Demo apps out there? Just curious...

Paul Thurrott's 'Windows Super Site' has several discussions of the problem using a Surface Pro (Windows 8) with an external monitor. I think you're wasting your time looking for a way to run your app as is; you're going to have to deal with the minimal screen space. You might just buy a couple of apps from the MS store (I mean data based applications, like something recording auto expense) and see how the deal with it before you start making changes.
