In defense of the US, robots, and a once-great company, I'd point out the
brandname "US Robotics" is pretty unrelated to the cool modems they made in
the 80s. USR and the Palm company they purchased and squandered were in
turn bought by 3Com, which has sliced and diced who owns what. The USR
brand name is owned by a private equity firm and sadly bears little
relation to the once-great manufacturer.
