MySQL is NOT free. You have to pay 595 USD/server/year if you are not distributing your app under GPL.

Hi All,

I'm evaluating a client/server solution for an existing product.

Does anyone have experience with SQL Express 2005 (aka MSDE) in a

Pros/Cons? I'm guessing performance will be a lot lower than the full
blown version. Don't care about the lack of DTS or replication.

Why bother with the MS junk. MySQL could probably be opted for just as easily. And then you wouldn't have to worry about MS changes in licensing, the usual MS security holes, etc.
