Yes and yes, Tracy. The same thing happened when running it as
Administrator. And when I did "Troubleshoot compatibility," all it came back
with after the testing was "Incompatible program."

I can install this on an old XP desktop, but would've liked to keep it all
in one place, for convenience's sake.

Have you tried to run it at least once as Administrator?
Have you tried compatibility mode?
