Dave:
Thanks for the reply and input.
I must be totally honest that the only reason VFP8 was selected for this app was that you could change the backcolor of
a button without using a bitmap overlay. The original prototype of this app was written in FPW 2.6 where I did define
300 bitmaps with the various colors. The VFP8 solution was neater and cleaner. Supposedly...
In hind sight, I am sooooooooo happy I did not convert our scouting system from VFP6 to VFP8 as was the plan for this
past summer. That app has 180+ forms in it and the sad thing is that with this error type no message is generated as
there is no code to be executed. BTW, this issue only started to show after the number of objects on the screen doubled.
The app worked so well for our team that it was decided to keep track of the other team on the ice as well.
I did write for fun a program in VFP8 to inventory my tomato seed collection and allow my to print germination reports
and enter other various notes about the current crop of tomatoes and to get acclimated with VFP8. Because as all know
growing tomato plants is not life or death but much more important than that <g>. I have never seen this issue with that
app making me think (as you said) the app became unstable with all the ojects and code.
I have started the ball rolling to purchase VFP9.

Jack,
Whatever it is it certainly won't get fixed in VFP8. I gave that up as a
lost cause a couple of years ago and reverted back to VFP7 which was much
more predictable and stable. Zorder getting changed randomly, objects
suddenly moving behind other objects for no reason even though you use Force
to Front, relationships between files not refreshing in grids as they
should, List boxed not behaving properly...the list goes on etc etc.
At least the shortcomings in VFP7 were fixable with programming workarounds.
Change to VFP9. You know it makes sense.
