To answer your question obliquely, MS has taught me to not try to get support. If I were in the market for a complex piece of software that would require support from the vendor, MS is pretty much on the do-not-buy list.

I had the opportunity to use Windows 8 a bit a couple of weeks ago. Very unfriendly.
