It provided one way for a form to be open multiple times, each with it's
own local database and table state (buffered records, record pointers, etc.)

With the right framework, it made it easy to do things like open up two
complex 'documents' -- multiple tables with lots of related tables - and
visual compare them side by side, editing as necessary.

It was like having multiple copies of FoxPro open at once, except you
still had global memory, the outer screen, the menu and the default data
session to share between them.

And, like any feature that introduces more complexity, it came with its
own supply of sticky wickets.
