OK, I can't see how that happened so for now I'll rule it out as a

Where is the print queue handled from? If from the server,
then there quite possibly was a -- pardon the expression -- upgrade.
I remember a problem on one system I worked with where the
printing would hang from time to time. In that case, one of us ITers
would log in to the server, take the print queue off-line, and then
bring it back up. Printing would then resume.
