Not my computer. He took it back to Best Buy and they charged him $150 to clean his computer and $50 for some super duper malware software.

He's happy so I'm happy.

Hi Jeff,

I've seen this 2 times last week! It's some kind of adware.

Try the following:
- From the black screen press ctrl+alt+del and run Task Manager.
- Click on file -> run and type 'control'. This opens control panel.
- Uninstall the latest program that was installed.
- Open Internet Options and remove all plugins, search providers etc
that look dodgy.

Reboot.

My friend brought me the above laptop and when he logs in he gets a black
screen. That's it. I let it sit for 15 minutes until the HD light stopped.
He thinks he installed a PC Cleaner program with his printer software. I
have tried all of the suggested methods to get to a safe mode with no luck.

I want to get to the remove programs screen and remove any garbage that may
be in there.

Any ideas?
