That worked!

Hovever, what you write inside the cmd file should be:

cd\myapp
myapp.exe

(it is like if you were writing a bat file)

as oposed to the syntax using the run command shown in that article. If I use RUN I just get a quick flicker on the screen but nothing else. With the bat syntax above it works like a charm.
